What if you want to remove everything from Google Photos to get started or switch to another service? This is actually a very simple task. Even if you want to take a few photos, we will show you how to do it.
Once you’ve downloaded all of your photos from Google, you can delete everything you’ve stored there – or leave it as an online backup and switch to another service. If you choose to delete it, we strongly recommend that you make two backups of all photos before deleting your Google Photo Library.
It is a good idea to have a backup on an external hard drive at home and a second backup on another hard drive elsewhere, such as Back Place or iDrive with a cloud backup service that supports encryption. Whatever you choose, it is always a good idea to keep three copies of your most important data safe. Dismissal is important.
Download all images from Google Photos
Download all images from Google Photos, Sign in to the service Click the Settings gear icon in the upper right corner. On the next screen, scroll down to export your data, click the down arrow in that section, and then click the Backup link as shown here.
This will take you to Google Takeout, The company’s service for downloading your data stored on Google’s servers. Going there from Photos instead of going directly to Tagout will select all your content in Google Photos, but no other data from your Google Account. Now click on the next step.
The next page shows the default settings for exporting your data: B. The file type and size of each archive file. By default, each archive folder is compressed into a ZIP folder, but you can also choose the TGZ format if you prefer. You can also zoom in on your archived ZIP files if you wish. However, it is easier to download 2GB files than large 10GB files that can be abruptly interrupted or merged.
Once everything is set the way you want, click Create Export. Now all you have to do is wait. Google predicts how long it will take to ship. This may take a few hours or a few days, depending on the size of your photo gallery.
Download selected images from Google Photos
If you want to download some selected photos, the process is very simple. First, hover over the photo you want to select, then click the check mark in the upper left corner of the image. This will put Google Photos in select mode. From there, repeat the process for the other photos you want to download. If you want to download photos from a full day, click the check mark next to the date.
Once you have selected all the photos you want, press Shift + D on your keyboard or click the three vertical dots in the top right corner to select the download. When the File Explorer window appears, click Save and you’re done. Like the “Total selection” option, your photos will be downloaded as a ZIP archive.
Getting your pictures from Google Photos is relatively easy. Deleting all your photos at once is not so easy – but it’s another time issue.
