2D or 3D? Nintendo talks about accessing the Super Mario

Nintendo now has two series for Super Mario: 2D and 3D. Looking at the sales figures, 3D games are very popular now, but I have to say that Odyssey is a very good title and appreciated by a lot of media.

As part of the business statistics, investors were asked how the company is currently classified. So Shigeru Miyamoto talks a little bit about the approach people are currently taking with Super Mario in general.

The last sentence is also interesting because you want to try “new ways” with the upcoming 3D title. Many people are looking forward to Super Mario Odyssey 2, but it sounds like a whole new Mario to me.

Let me explain the difference between 2D Mario and 3D Mario by describing the background to the development of Wii Game New Super Mario Brothers Wee released in 2009. At the time, it felt like every time we created. The new installment of the Super Mario series – which has been expanded to 3D – has become more complex. Since the release of the Super Mario Galaxy in 2007, the goal has been to create a more accessible 3D Super Mario game, resulting in the new Super Mario Brothers Wii, a basic side scrolling Super Mario game that can be easily played even by new players. That led to the release of an even simpler Super Mario Run game (a mobile app released in 2016). When we create software, we try to integrate new components, but at the same time want to make it easy for the first time. Players should have fun. Recently, all generations have been enjoying the 3D Mario game Super Mario Odyssey (released in 2017), so we want to move forward with 3D Mario and try to expand further in new ways.
