A new turning point in Nintendo’s history seems to be happening faster than expected: Wednesday, March 16, 2022, Eurocomer Detected online store dedicated to Wii U and DSi. Most worryingly, Nintendo did not report anything about the maintenance of these stores, causing many players to be surprised and worried.
Can I close online stores in advance?
We have been aware for some time that the Nintendo eShop will not be available on Wii U and 3DS family consoles from March 2023. Long before that, channels dedicated to these consoles in eShop already did not allow you to buy anything. 2019 and 2017, respectively.
These consoles made many players want to re-download some of the games they bought while “current” for various reasons, mostly nostalgia.
However, as of Wednesday, March 16, 2022, eShop will not be directly accessible on the Wii U or DSi. When first exploring the temporary maintenance path, some players said they were successful in downloading games and DLCs through third-party software, especially NUSDownloader, thus suggesting that the store actually works … and it does not.
