Signal Messenger: The urgency of new users overloads the signaling system

Encryption Messenger signal receives a lot of new users. The reason is that WhatsApp is forcing its users to agree to share additional data with Facebook. Tesla founder Elon Muskin may have contributed to the development of a tweet signal. The signal loading process was overloaded even for a short time.

The updated WhatsApp Privacy Policy states, among other things: “As part of the Facebook Company, WhatsApp receives information from other Facebook companies and shares information with other Facebook companies”. If you want to continue using WhatsApp, you must agree to the new Terms of Use – by February 8th. Until now, WhatsApp users had the right to restrict data transfer.

This has not been taken advantage of by many users, including Elon Musk. Yesterday he wrote a brief “Use Signal” on Twitter. It has been shared more than 20,000 times in half a day and has already received almost 200,000 likes.

Both together lead to running on WhatsApp alternatives like Signal. After the musks tweet, the SMS gateway of the signals could not send the required verification codes for new records. However, this was resolved in a short notice in collaboration with various Internet services Signal reports via Twitter.

The signal not only enables final encrypted text messages, but also protects voice and video calls. Since December, Signal has also supported encrypted video group calls, i.e. multiple people at once. Initially, up to five participants will be able to make fully encrypted video calls, and soon there will be many more.
