In this article, we will guide you through the steps you can take to fix this problem. Also, at the end of the article, you can download media from WhatsApp without any problems …

1. Check your internet connection

When you have problems using an application that requires the Internet to work, you should check that your Internet connection is working properly.

One of the best ways to do this is to use other applications on your phone and test whether they can access the Internet. You can also try visiting a webpage in the browser of your choice.

If other applications encounter similar connectivity issues, check that you are connected to the Internet.

Fix wifi connection issues

Start by power-cycling to your WiFi router. If the connection problem persists when the router comes back on, see our guide that explains how to fix slow wifi connections.

Try turning off cellular data (or mobile data) and then running it again. If that doesn’t help, turn on airplane mode and turn it off again. You need to make sure your web plan is active and that you have no data leaks.

If you still can’t download media files on WhatsApp (despite the data plan) try to speed up your mobile data connection.

2. Check your device storage

If you do not have enough space on your phone’s internal or external storage, you will not be able to download files from WhatsApp and other applications. It’s not a brain. Say you are trying to download 50MB video, your device has only 40MB free storage and WhatsApp will not finish the download.

For Android, launch the File Manager app on your phone and check how much free storage space your phone has. Alternatively, you can go Settings> Storage.
