Netflix is announcing a new feature for all its subscribers on all devices

Attention audiophiles, spatial sound is coming to Netflix.

This new feature comes in addition to 4K, Dolby Atmos… Users who want to be even more immersed in the stories they watch on the streaming platform can now enjoy spatial audio on specific content on all devices, without installation and complexity.

Netflix really explains it “Enhance stereo audio using Sennheiser AMBEO technology to deliver an immersive surround sound experience, compatible with all devices and all streaming programs, without the need for surround speakers or home theater equipment.“. So, if you don’t have surround speakers, your TV or streaming device will have this feature turned on automatically. But if you have this type of installation, Netflix recommends watching series and movies in 5.1 surround sound or Dolby Atmos. Some TVs turn off spatial audio and use a 5.1 audio setting by default. If recommended, set your device settings to stereo audio.

On its support page, Netflix also provides some details for Apple devices: you’ll need to set the streaming quality to High or Auto and enable the spatial audio setting on your device, as well as a compatible device that offers the Netflix catalog:
