Setting up a voice assistant is a huge task. Challenges a long list of different languages, dialects, nonsense, accents and many more. Google is now introducing new tools and upgrading existing functions to take Google Assistant to a new level. One of the announced innovations is that Google Assistant can teach you how to pronounce names.
Google publishes this invention first in English and then in other languages. In smartphone software, the assistant can teach us how to pronounce the names of our contacts. Google Assistant remembers this without actually registering us and uploading these posts to the cloud.
It’s about the environment
Google Assistant and company can show a certain intelligence and they need to understand the respective context. Ultimately, this is important for every casual conversation, and therefore for language assistants. So Google changes its models in the background so that the software environment can be better understood. With these improvements, Google says that “Assistant can now respond to alarms and timer tasks with almost 100 percent accuracy.” First and foremost for English speaking users.
Google wants to run more normal conversations
Existing technology is also used for upgrades so that a “conversation” with the assistant occurs more naturally. “Google Assistant uses your previous contacts and understands what’s currently on your smartphone or smart display to answer further questions so you can have a more natural conversation.”
It has to do with the current environment. As you may have heard before. If you are interested in the weather of a particular city, you do not have to mention the name of the city in the next request to get the right results for the right city.
“If you’ve been talking to your assistant about Miami and would like more information, we know you are the beaches in Miami by ‘Show me the best beaches’.”
Google initially implemented all of these improvements and innovations for the English language. So we have to be patient until we notice improvements related to German voice commands.
