Collecting video games and related hardware has long been a discipline that will change hands for a lot of money. The six-digit size is now normal. But there are always events that cause a stir in the scene. A few years ago, for example, the prototype of the “Nintendo PlayStation” appeared and the current appearance of a special Nintendo accessory is causing excitement among experts.
Because YouTube Shane Lewis Is open Twitter Provided an absolute rarity and showed photos of it (via On the edge). Lewis writes: “I was asked by a private video game collector to check and photograph the Nintendo 64 Disk Drive (64DT) upgrade tool. This setup was new and had to be carefully documented in the box.” The box also contained 64 DT upgrade disks and some stickers for blank and unused.
Japan Sliding Drive
This should come as no surprise to anyone who hears about the 64DD for the first time this time around: this driver is a little used system that drives the operation of proprietary floppy disks. However, it never appeared in the West, only in Japan. The 64DD is already rare in its own right, a (yet unopened) developer kit, on the other hand, with a completely different collector dimension.
A special feature of the Dev Kit is that it comes with an adapter used to connect two N64 cartridges. Placed under the original 64DT console, it was twice as big as the Nintendo 64 normal console. Coincidentally, there weren’t many games for it, because (in Japan) only nine titles came out.
