Windows thumbnail cache or Thumbs.db Files are data files that are hidden in the Windows operating system and contain small images, which, when viewed in a “thumbnail” view, are displayed in contrast to the tile, icon, list or profile view.

Windows has a copy of all your photos, videos, and document thumbnails so you can quickly view them when you open the folder. This thumbnail cache – thumbs.db, ehthumbs.db, thumbcache _ * .db – is used by Windows to expedite the display of thumbnail files.
