SpaceX eventually awarded NASA the contract to build the first manned rocket to the moon in 1972, and the end of the Apollo program.

Elon Musk’s company won Blue Origin (Jeff Bezos) and Dynamics, suppliers to the U.S. military, pocketing a $ 2.9 billion deal from NASA. The U.S. space agency wants to send astronauts back to the moon as part of the Artemis program. This is, from 2024 … even though NASA has revised its text and now speaks “as soon as possible”.

The deal is worth nearly $ 3 billion

SpaceX will work its starship. The next generation of the rocket is under construction in Boca Chica, Texas. It can carry not only one crew but also hundreds of tons of cargo in its reserves. The engine will land its main engines on the moon: the manufacturer achieved this with a prototype in early March, but unfortunately The rocket exploded as soon as it landed on Earth.

The NASA deal will allow funding for two starships: one unmanned to test the lunar landing, and the second used to travel astronauts. This order was a huge success for SpaceX, especially as visitors expected the space company to select two winners. But budget restrictions have reduced the possibilities.

SpaceX is already working with NASA to take astronauts to the International Space Station (the next mission is scheduled for April 22). Last October, the company announced that it could launch its starship rocket Go to Mars from 2024A way to pick a date!
