Like many entry-level smartphones, the Galaxy M12 is augmented with photo volumes. Its rear unit is thus equipped with a 48MP main sensor with its wide-angle f / 2 optics, 5MPX sensor with ultra wide-angle (f2.2), 2MPX sensor dedicated to macro and lastly 2MPX depth.
Main volume: 48 megapixels, f / 2
The high definition of its core sensor allows Samsung to practice Pixel-pinningThat is, it should compile its pixels into four and, by default, provide images of 12 megapixels. As long as there is enough light the images will be of corable quality. If some textures struggle to reset, the level of detail is perfect and the colors are delivered very accurately.
However, the level drops sharply when the light decreases. The softening is then clear, and the details are sparse. However, we note that capturing at 48 megapixels can be forced, which clearly improves the alignment of low-contrast areas during the day (lion’s head, for example), but without difference at night.
Ultra wide angle: 5 megapixels, f / 2.2
If the Galaxy M12 does not prove to be an excellent photographer using its wide angle, its difficulties will increase at its extreme wide angle when the light is low. Our laboratory tests performed during the day show a clear softness, which obscures most of the details of our test scene, and this adds significant distortion. At night, the details still fade and the title of our book can no longer be read. Note here that the Oppo A53s does not offer the ultra wide-angle due to the lack of proper balance in the competing models, for example, we compared the rendering of the M12 with the Realmy 8 at 8 Mpx. It should be noted that the M12 can deliver results that are difficult to use, which does not detract from the colorimetric field compared to the second smartphone.
Front module, portrait and video mode
The M12 is fitted with an 8-megapixel volume on the front, which has an optical opening at f / 2.2. This is associated with a portrait mode, which is rarely used, and the crop (especially hair) of the finest elements lacks accuracy. Photos are unfortunately affected by visible softening. Let’s add that the Galaxy M12 is capable of shooting at 1080p at 30 fps, in the most classic way, with its front and rear modules.
