PS5 can read games with low CMOS battery besides PlayStation Plus free

According to a study conducted a few months ago, if the console’s CMOS battery is malfunctioning or simply removed, the PlayStation 5 may not have all its features. However, to date things seem to have changed.

According to new experiments provided by Hikikomori Media, The PS5 can now read and play games in physical and digital formats (The only exception is the titles included in the PlayStation Plus instant game collection), and it has many active features, even without the CMOS battery.

The CMOS battery enables the console clock, and when players try to start the game, a comparison takes place between the internal clock and the date and time on the remote server. When the battery is removed or exhausted, the console will ask players to manually enter the start date and time.

Previously, when the PS5 could not connect to the PS network, It is not possible to launch digitally purchased games, And this sparked an event called CBOMB online. Moreover, the problem no longer arises even in the case of the presumption that Sony will have to shut down the PS network in the future.

We take this opportunity to remind you that Sony has pledged new shares of the PS5 in Europe ahead of the arrival of the Christmas season.
