Tire with photo storage as far as the eye can see – this is often too good to be true. Mostly it is. Google Photo users have recently learned this.
From June 1: New photos are counted towards the 15GB storage space

. The new storage guidelines apply to Google Photos, Google Drive and Gmail. In particular, this means: anyone who violates the 15 gigabyte quota with new uploads in the future will be asked to pay – or they will no longer be able to save new files.

The new storage limit is not limited to Google Photos (for high quality images – now called “Save Space” – and “Express Quality” images – their original uploaded images are always calculated as 15 GB of storage space.

Before you worry about your current photo treasures, let me give you a clear idea of everything. These should continue – at least with regular operation – and, according to Google, not count towards the new limit. On the other hand, it is very annoying if you have a quota after June 1, 2021

Search Google Data Export on Google Dashboard or click directly

Once there, they will contact you if needed

Click the “Uninstall” button to avoid downloading your entire Google History.

Scroll down until you come to the field labeled ‘Google Photos’. Cover this with a hook.

If you only want to download a few albums, click ‘All selected photo albums’ and mark the individual folders in this menu item. If you want to download all your photos, skip this step.

Now scroll down the list and click on ‘Next Step’

Now select the frequency you want (twice or once a month) and the format.

Additionally, under the “Transmission Mode” item there is an option to upload files directly to another cloud storage device (eg Dropbox, OnDrive, …). If you want to save the files locally, select ‘Send download link via email’ here.

Finally, at the very least, click the ‘Create Export’ button. This may take some time depending on the amount of data stored. When the process is complete, you will receive an email with a download link. Alternatively, you can download the files directly from the website.
