Google Maps has released a new widget that lets you know the traffic in your area in real time. So you can use it on your mobile.
Google has recently updated some of its key applications to add new useful widgets so that you can enjoy some of the functionality of these applications from the home screen of our mobiles. This widget is already available in France and is undoubtedly one of the most useful to put on the home screen of your mobile. We will explain how you can do that.
Traffic in your area at a glance
Before you look at the steps required to use the new Google Maps widget, you should note that you need to have the latest version of Google Maps installed on your device to use it. You can download the latest update from the Google Play Store.
If the latest version of the app is already installed on your mobile, you need to follow some simple steps:
- Press and hold a blank space on the home screen of your mobile.
- Tap on the “Widgets” section.
- Scroll down until you find “Google Maps” and tap the application name.
- Select the Direct Traffic widget and drag it to the home screen where you want to place it.
One of the features of this widget is that it is interactive. By tapping the magnifying glass icon in the lower right corner of the widget, you can zoom in or out to view traffic from a larger or smaller area around your location. One of the most useful, for example, is to find out when is the best time to leave home for work.
