Nintendo has released a new overview trailer for its upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, offering a closer look at the reimagined version of the acclaimed 1998 adventure. The game is scheduled to launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on 5 November 2026, with pre-orders now available.

The latest trailer follows the first gameplay footage unveiled in September and provides a broader introduction to the remake’s world, exploration, combat and puzzle-solving mechanics.

Nintendo Reveals New Ocarina of Time Remake Trailer

Originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remains one of Nintendo’s most celebrated games and a landmark title in the development of three-dimensional action-adventure gaming.

The forthcoming remake has been developed from the ground up for Nintendo Switch 2 rather than simply updating the original game’s visuals.

Nintendo’s new overview trailer highlights the familiar Kingdom of Hyrule, where players will encounter a variety of characters, explore different environments, battle monsters and overcome challenges throughout the adventure.

The remake retains the central elements that established the original as a defining entry in The Legend of Zelda series.

Exploring Hyrule, Solving Puzzles and Battling Enemies

Players will journey across Hyrule, discovering locations populated by distinctive characters and dangerous creatures.

Exploration remains a central part of the experience, with dungeons containing puzzles, enemies and obstacles that require players to make effective use of their equipment.

Classic Gameplay and the Ocarina Return

The adventure features a range of items that players can use to progress through the game, including the musical instrument from which Ocarina of Time takes its name.

The ocarina plays an important role in the original game’s mechanics, allowing players to perform melodies associated with different events and abilities.

Players must also navigate increasingly challenging environments, using weapons, tools and problem-solving skills to overcome obstacles.

The remake aims to bring these familiar gameplay elements to Nintendo’s latest console while preserving the structure and identity of the original adventure.

Nintendo Switch 2 Version Supports Zelda Notes

Alongside the updated adventure, Nintendo has confirmed that the remake will support Zelda Notes, a game-specific service accessible through the Nintendo Switch App on compatible smart devices.

The feature will provide an additional way for players to interact with supported game content through their mobile devices.

    Two New Amiibo Figures Announced

Nintendo is also introducing two new amiibo figures alongside the game’s release.

These collectable figures will offer compatibility with the remake and allow players to unlock special in-game masks.

The announcement continues Nintendo’s use of amiibo accessories to provide additional functionality and collectable content across selected games.

Ocarina of Time Remake Release Date and Platform

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is scheduled for release on 5 November 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.

Pre-orders are already available ahead of the launch.

The release will give existing fans an opportunity to revisit one of Nintendo’s best-known adventures, while introducing the story and gameplay to players who may not have experienced the Nintendo 64 original.

The remake also arrives during a significant period for the wider Zelda franchise, with another major adaptation scheduled for the following year.

Zelda Remake Arrives Ahead of Live-Action Film in May 2027

Nintendo’s upcoming game is set to launch approximately six months before the planned release of the live-action The Legend of Zelda film in May 2027.

The proximity of the two releases places the franchise in the spotlight across both gaming and cinema.

The film represents another major expansion of Nintendo’s entertainment properties beyond video games, following the company’s growing involvement in screen adaptations.

Could Majora’s Mask Receive a Similar Remake?

Speculation has also emerged about the possibility of Nintendo developing a comparable remake of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask.

Originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 2000, Majora’s Mask followed Ocarina of Time and introduced a distinctive adventure built around a repeating three-day cycle.

Although a similar remake has been suggested, Nintendo has not confirmed any plans for a new version of Majora’s Mask.

For now, the company’s confirmed focus remains on bringing Ocarina of Time to Nintendo Switch 2.

A Major Return for One of Nintendo’s Most Influential Games

With its November release approaching, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is positioned to introduce a landmark Nintendo adventure to a new generation of players.

The latest overview trailer provides another look at the reimagined Hyrule, familiar gameplay systems and additional features planned for Nintendo Switch 2. The game’s arrival, followed by the live-action film in 2027, marks an important period for one of Nintendo’s longest-running franchises.
