Dragon Quest XI: new gameplay footage shown at Countdown Carnival

As Japanese gamers are slowly but surely getting closer to the release of Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time on PS4 and 3DS this Summer, Capcom and Square-Enix continue to unfold their PR schedule with updates on the game’s official website, features in the Weekly Jump Magazine and live events. A perfect plan to keep on hold eager fans who discover day by day how great this DQXI will be, but a sad reminder for us poor gaijins that the RPG is far from being in our consoles…

Nevertheless, this is not gonna stop us from wanting to know more and hope that translation teams get their game on and bring Dragon Quest XI to the west as fast as possible. So far, we’ve had a glimpse of the Smithing System, the Zone Mode and Link combat techniques, the Mount System and a whole bunch of details on characters, collector editions and such.

So this morning, Square-Enix took it down a notch by “just” showing hands-on gameplay footage during a special live stream held at the current Osaka Countdown Carnival. After a lengthy introduction of the characters in a trailer and a reminder of the upcoming Hero Sword Box Double Pack, the team got their hands on the controller for both versions of the game (marker 31:00). You can see the gameplay session in the video below. Enjoy!

Dragon Quest XI lands in Japan this July 29th on 3DS.
