Thanks to the PAX East show, Nintendo gave us a deeper look into the upcoming Switch port, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. We’ve learned all the details on the what’s new in this Switch exclusive version, we even got to see video footage of the Battle Mode, with Coin Runners and Renegade Roundup gameplay.
Now, thanks to website Techno Buffalo, we know the technical details on resolution and framerate at which the racing game will run. Nintendo certainly tried to force the 1080p/60fps option as much as they could. But it looks like that even with the best of their efforts, they had to drop framerate to 30fps when you’ll race at 3 or 4 players.
When docked, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will run at 60fps in 1080p. It will hold that resolution when docked no matter what. When split-screen with two players, the game will maintain that 60fps in 1080p performance; but, it will drop to 30fps in 1080p when three or four players come in for split-screen local.
