Zelda Breath of the Wild: How to repair your rusty weapons?

Octorocks are the natural blacksmiths of Hyrule

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is definitely full of surprises. One thing missing from the game is a proper way to repair your weapons. Those of you who’ve already spent a few hours in the game might now that some rare ones can be fixed/remade by NPCs in certain places. But it won’t work for the common sword that you find on a forgotten battleground. However, looks like Nintendo has a surprise for you.

Today, a player found out an easy way to repair a Rusty Broadsword into a Royal Broadsword. That’s right, the rusty peace of junk that you find in Hyrule can regain its former glory. How? You’ll have to do the same thing as @TristanACooper did (and showed in a tweet below): pick up a Rusty Broadsword and have it swallowed by an Octorok. It’ll then spit a shiny Royal Broadsword back at you.

The player also confirmed that the trick works with a Rusty Shield, but didn’t say anything about Rusty Claymore. You’ll have to try this by yourself, we don’t see why it wouldn’t work. However, this method won’t repair your weapons. Nor will it repair a badly damaged Rusty/Royal Broadsword or Shield. Guess there are still some secrets that need to be unveiled, if they even exist.

We can’t know for sure that Nintendo didn’t implement a way to repair your weapons. So keep digging and maybe you’ll be the one to find out. And in the meantime, if you want to get better weapons in Zelda Breath of the Wild, go check our full guide “Where are all the armors and outfits“.
