YouTube may bring cross-device download functionality; Check the details

YouTube has started working on a new feature that will enhance the offline viewing experience. Android Police has noticed that YouTube may soon allow downloading of videos on more than one device. Also, if a user downloads a video on his phone, it may appear on other devices with his YouTube app.

Now, the feature is not live, but this option soon appeared in the background and under the download settings for a few YouTube premium users, the report said. Selected number of users got the option of stable and beta version.

The report said that when users tap the option, a pop-up appears asking them which device to sync. The pop-up also includes a change to “Allow download to this device”. As mentioned earlier, this feature has not gone live until now, and will not work during its initial appearance. Now, it is not clear when the feature will actually be released. However, this can be useful for users who frequently change devices or use multiple devices together.

YouTube currently works on different aspects for its users. Most recently, it added support for 8K videos on YouTube TV. It tests a function, which makes it easy to add timestamps in the comments section.

Another feature is in works capable of adding automatic video episodes. This feature allows creators to set different chapters with the title. It is said that it helps the visitors to go quickly to the area they want to see. Upcoming feature of YouTube is useful for long format videos. These upcoming features are being tested in a small group of users.
