    YouTube videos can be quickly downloaded from the Internet without having to resort to a third-party solution. The streaming video operating system then tests a new feature to download videos for offline viewing.

    However, not all users can use this function. for now, Web light The reserve is for its premium subscribers only and plans to withdraw from its trial operations on October 19, without specifying whether it will be permanently integrated into the service after that date.

    This new function, which takes the form of a simple download button displayed at the bottom of a video when viewed, is also integrated into YouTube’s three-point menu.

    However, do not expect to be able to use videos downloaded this way on third-party editing tools or media players. The option to download via YouTube only allows videos to be played from the web interface loaded from the browser cache when the internet connection is disconnected.

    Already available on Android and iOS mobile applications, the desktop download function can only be used on a computer with the latest version of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Opera.

    The arrival of the official option to download YouTube video locally has been long overdue. Many third-party solutions already exist, but sometimes require the use of questionable third-party tools or sites.

    There are other complex techniques, such as using VLC or the YouTube-DL command line tool, but their use is not intuitive to the uninitiated user.
