Why you need to enable airplane mode on your Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch has an airplane mode, which is very useful even when you are not on the plane. Description.

Airplane mode is configured on almost all of our modern electronic devices and will be activated as soon as you board. Most likely not, it’s rarely used at rest – unless you really want to be called -. After all, why would anyone voluntarily disconnect themselves from the Internet? Well, there are many reasons, especially Nintendo-SwitchI.e. autonomy and charging speed.

A switch is a device that relies heavily on the Internet. You need to be connected to a WiFi network to download updates, play online and stay in touch with friends. That being said, you will never do this. As long as you only play online.

Not only when you use the console, but also connecting to the internet drains the battery. It makes sense that accessing eShop, installing updates, or connecting to an online game with a friend uses battery power, but there are many more connected functions that are still required while the device is running.

For example, your switch constantly checks WiFi, constantly checks for updates, restores your friends’ online status and the games they play, and sends you push notifications to purchase content. Even in sleep mode it does all this consistently, which means that if you leave it in its dock, the battery will be low when you wake it up. Enabling Airplane Mode as soon as you know you do not need the Internet will prevent all this activity.

There are other benefits to enabling airplane mode besides protecting the limit. Many games – even those that do not require an internet connection to play – check the internet connection before starting. This will slow down the loading, especially if you do not have WiFi range but WiFi is enabled.

Airplane mode violates this verification, which improves the start time of the game. On Reddit, a user noticed that the screen of Super Mario Odyssey “Play with Joy-Con Detach” appeared very fast while running in airplane mode. Even if battery life is not a problem, you may decide to turn it on when your switch is docked or charged.

However, one drawback: if you are an Nintendo Switch online subscriber and enable airplane mode, you will have to do without online savings. Too bad if you pay the subscription for this on time.

In addition, airplane mode disables Bluetooth communications, preventing you from playing with the separated joy-cons. If you want to play this way, you must manually enable Bluetooth in System Settings> Airplane Mode> Controller Connection (Bluetooth).
