WhatsApp is testing a new mode, which should be exciting for many users. With the new function, chat messages will disappear naturally after a certain period of time.
At the end of 2020, WhatsApp launched a new function called self-destructing messages. Since then, users can provide an expiration date for their messages. If the feature is active, the chat partner will know the messages for seven days, after which they will automatically disappear. Now this function should get its own mode, reports the Wabetaininfo.com portal.

Upcoming updates may include a new mode
WhatsApp is currently testing a new “missing mode” aimed at improving user privacy. Once the tests are complete, Wabetainfo writes that it could be included in one of the upcoming WhatsApp updates for iOS and Android. It is not clear from the report when this will be correct.
Once the mode is distributed via update, users will see this in the application settings under account and data protection between previous entries such as “Blocked” and “Read Receipt”. The function should then be activated via a slider, which will be turned off by default.
As such, self-disappearing messages are standardized in all new chats. Until now, users had to manually set the function on their chat partner’s contact information.
