From March 15, the new WhatsApp Terms of Use will take effect – the company will mark it with a banner. It will soon appear in the chat perspective.

In early January, Messenger WhatsApp was set on fire because it wanted to force users to accept the new terms of use. The content of these rules is so clearly designed that many misunderstand them as a free ticket for data transfer to the parent company Facebook. Since then, alternative messengers such as Signal and Telegram have seen faster download numbers. To bring the situation under control, WhatsApp stepped back. The new rules will take effect on March 15 – instead of February 8, as originally planned.

Nothing changes in normal chat usage

The messenger mentions the new encounter with the banner that appears in WhatsApp chats. There it says that WhatsApp’s Terms of Use and Data Protection Rules will be modified. You can check the changes in detail with a single click.

In fact, nothing changes in normal messenger usage. WhatsApp has been sharing data on Facebook since 2016. Many may not be aware of this, but TECHBOOK did among others This was reported in detail. In the EU, data transfer is more severe than anywhere else. For EU residents, everything will be the same.

The new WhatsApp Terms of Use regulate how users interact with companies via Messenger. Chats are usually encrypted from end to end. This means you can only read messages from you and yourself. Even if the WhatsApp server is hacked, no one can see the content of the chats. However, this protection is not available in chats with companies. The content of these messages is not encrypted. It can be used for targeted advertising for Facebook and stored on the company’s servers.

The banner leads to the new WhatsApp Terms of Use

After WhatsApp has already made these changes As a forced status message to its users, A banner should now appear in chats. If you tap on it, a page will appear The changes are explained.

On the page, WhatsApp explicitly states that interacting with companies is completely optional. Users have control over whether they want to contact companies via WhatsApp. You can block contacts at any time and remove them from your list. Chats with companies are also explicitly marked so as not to be confused with casual chats.

WhatsApp also tries to ensure that chats between users are still encrypted from end to end. So the content of the messages cannot be accessed to WhatsApp or Facebook.
