C.G. Demo of the artist’s new technology shows how much power there is for the open game worlds in the new Unreal Engine 5. A nice side effect is that it does not require any monster high system.

One from the epic games Unreal Engine 5 has already been released in early access The next gen promises to be the new gold standard for consoles and PC games. Impressive innovations compared to the predecessor engine include the following Night-feature, Exceptionally detailed views and models are possible; Lumen feature, which is a complete dynamic lighting solution and High-tech temporary super resolution.

Now C.G. Artist Joe Kart has a new one YouTube-video The new features of Unreal Engine 5 showed how it could affect the design and function of the open game world. The video initially shows a hilly plain, with its meadow landscape scattered with rocks and stones, while a beautiful sky towers over an interesting mountain panorama. The highlight of this new demo is not only nanode and lumens, but also the possibilities of new physical simulation – including wind calculation, cloud simulation and terrain decay.

The destruction of the landscape is particularly interesting. In his demo, Kart implemented a feature by which he changes parts of the open game world by clicking the mouse, while the surrounding rocks and terrain react to it. He describes this as a kind of next gen Minecraft. At the push of a button, the meteorite clears the world, shaking the earth and rocks. As the cart explains in the video, this is made possible by the Vox plugin for the machine.

But the already known components of Unreal Engine 5 are also convincing. Nights and lumens ensure full attention to the grass air, while cloud simulation realistically depicts the structure of the sky. But the cart did not use the total high-end monster for the video. In contrast, a GeForce GTX 1080D was enough for him as a graphics card. Owners of weaker PC systems can expect better graphics from the Unreal Engine 5 pipeline.

Epic Games plans to release the full version of Unreal Engine 5 in the spring of 2022.
