The Wii Shop channel has been down for several days, coming back?

Over the past few days, the Wii Shop channel has been experiencing major issues, making it impossible to access the digital store.

At the beginning, you will see a blank screen. If you stick for a long time, you may see an error code appear. Unfortunately, this can do nothing but return to the home menu manually. Many will find this situation unimportant. After all, we have two console generations from the Wii, Nintendo released the Wii U and Nintendo Switch – the latter being Nintendo’s current focus (and the focus of many gamers).

The Wii Shop Channel has been technically closed since 2019, but those who previously purchased the content can still access their past purchases through the infamous Shop Channel. Currently this is not possible. Nintendo said earlier downloads would also be discontinued “at some point”, although there was no announcement of a specific date. As for the current status of the Wii Shop channel, the situation is not clear. It is certain that he will be back in a few more days. But looking at Nintendo’s maintenance page, I could not find any issues or when it will be back in service. We will monitor the situation in the future.

Last month, Nintendo announced that it would stop buying Wii U and 3DS from the eShop in March 2023.
