The manuscript of the famous physicist Albert Einstein, in which he produced his theory of general relativity, was auctioned off in Paris on Tuesday, November 23 for 11.6 million euros. The 54-page document, handwritten by a scientist, is estimated at 2 to 3 million euros. It was written in 1913 and 1914 by Michael Pesso, a German-born physicist and his collaborator and optimist in Zurich (Switzerland).
“Scientific manuscripts of Einstein’s period, more generally pre – 1919, are very rare.”, Underlined before Christie’s sale, in which the Aquitas house auction took place. These started at 1.5 million and flew away in a few minutes, ending in a fight between two buyers over the phone at an increase of 200,000 euros. There were a hundred people in the room eager to attend the auction and collectors.
