Birmingham, Ala. (WBRC) – It started as a way to find out if college students are exposed to COVID-19, but now anyone can use it.
The use of manual safety disclosure notice is no longer expanding to help not only college students, but also alumni.
“It will only tell you the date of the revelation,” the UAP VP said. And Chief Information Officer Kurt Carver said.
It works by running low power in the background and will have the app when you are close to someone for 15 minutes.
“Thousands of people have been notified that they are nearby,” Carver said.
The app never asks for your personal details and never knows who you are.
“It doesn’t access your contact list, it doesn’t access GPS, it doesn’t even know your name,” Carver said.
GuideSafe will not track you, just interact with others who have the app.
“It assigns you a very long number every 10-20 minutes,” he explained the encryption.
If your number comes up with a positive test report number, you will be notified.
“Wearing a mask and social exclusion is even more important, but this application really shines when you are around strangers you don’t know,” Carver said.
It is free and available on any smart phone under the manual service.
Hoover and Birmingham have teamed up with UAP to create PSAs and tell people to download the app.
