SpotFi for Apple Watch can now download music

The Spotify app for the Apple Watch now offers the ability to download music and podcasts for offline listening. This feature follows from the possibility of “streaming” audio content from your watch, even without a smartphone nearby.

Spotify is constantly improving its Apple Watch app and coping with offline listening. Swedish service Advertising Premium subscribers can now download albums, playlists and podcasts on their smartwatch. This option allows Spotify to provide “Experience” Offline and phone enhancing the ability to “stream” music from the Apple Watch. Available from November 2020, this feature has allowed Spotify to create a fraction of the delay over its rival, Apple Music. However, you must have a WiFi connection or access to a cellular network.

How to download music or podcasts to Apple Watch?

Now, you no longer have to connect to Spotify to deliver audio content on the Apple Watch. For the occasion, the music streaming service describes the process for using offline mode. Here are five steps:

1 – After searching for the music or podcasts you want to download on your watch, select the playlist, album or podcast and press three dots ().
2 – Then you can select “Download to Apple Watch”.
3 – You can check the progress by going to the download section of the clock
4 – Once the playlists, albums or podcasts have been downloaded, you will see a small green arrow next to their name.
5 – Connect headphones to enjoy audio content in offline mode

As a reminder, Spotify requires a paid (premium) subscription and must have the Apple Watch Series 3 or the newer running WatchOS 6.0. It is recommended to use WatchOS 7.1 or newer to use the functionality. The latter is currently in use and available to all users. “In the next few weeks”.

Note that this option also appears in the operating system for clocks connected from Google. The information was confirmed when Google unveiled the new version of Wear OS at the I / O conference.
