However, this is not a big surprise to anyone who visits us regularly. Huawei has again provided many older devices with security connectivity in the last few weeks. Like the others, this is only a bonus, even though it was originally mentioned in the changelog. The real reason for the update is the app shortcuts in the second part. With this, Huawei, which was created as an alternative to the popular American applications, wants to attract attention in its applications.

Like my other devices that received this app update, I do not see any Huawei Apps folder. The attachments can be found separately in the application drawer. Here I can guess that the folder is only available in standard view. What I like about the drawer view is that the links, as I said, are only visible individually and alphabetically in the drawer.

The update for the Mate 20 X, on the other hand, is only special as it is finally back to the local model. Here, too, after a long dry spell, there is a monthly link, which is the July 2021 security link.

Accordingly, the firmware of the Mate 20 X is not large. Humility 284 MB You need to download. But even with the MediaPad M5 10.8, the download is not particularly large, despite the extensive changelog 373 MB. Because these are just shortcuts to applications, not applications. If you want to try them out, you need to download them like any other application, the shortcut is just a help.

As always, you can download and install updates via WLAN or mobile as long as you have a stable connection and enough data.

The July 2021 security connection for both devices includes only the changes mentioned in the changelog; No new functions or applications. Nothing will change in Android and EMUI version. Problems with updates have not yet been reported to us. However, a current backup is always a good idea.
