Is the megapixel craze returning to smartphone cameras?
Samsung has introduced a new photo chip for mobile phones with a resolution of 200 megapixels. Isocell HP1 is the world’s first cell phone image sensor with a smaller, smaller number of pixels with a less attractive name.
Will Samsung soon develop the world’s hottest smartphone camera?
It is clear that Koreans will soon be able to install their chip on the new smartphone. Isocell HP1 is “convenient for modern portable devices”, explains Samsung Press Release.
But what is this crazy resolution? Modern cell phones typically take photos with a resolution of 12 megapixels, which is perfectly adequate for excellent photo quality.
Samsung explains that cameras with Isocell HP1 can also take photos with a resolution of 12 megapixels. Trick: 16 neighboring pixels are merged into one large pixel. The manufacturer talks about a chameleon cell technology.
Thanks to these large pixels, the camera should capture more image information and achieve better photo quality in poor lighting conditions.
However, in bright daylight, the sensor also captures photos with a very high resolution of 200 megapixels. He can also record videos at 8K quality at 30 frames per second.
It is not yet clear on what cell phone a camera with such monstrous resolution can hold its premiere. However, on the Internet GuessedSamsung’s upcoming top model, the Galaxy S22, will be equipped with a 200-megapixel camera.
