From what we have learned, the mountaineer on the south face, “Normale”, the eruption of stones – probably away from the mountain – struck him, causing him severe head injuries.
Climber “Lino Androtti” upstream from Pivok, so upstream at an altitude of 3225 meters. The alert was immediate due to the intervention of the Regional Helicopter Rescue Service.
Helicopter rescue was mainly operated from the Valley Valley, where it also did base camping. Once at a high altitude, the helicopter – departing from the Leveltiki base – dropped off the medical staff, along with an alpine rescue technician on board, who gave first aid to the injured person.
The injured were placed on a stretcher and paralyzed before boarding a helicopter of the Regional Helicopter Rescue Service.
Upon boarding the plane, doctors ordered an emergency evacuation to the emergency and reception department of Santa Croce Hospital in Cuneo, in red code, for emergency gravity.
Further down, the Fourteenth Mission’s Alpine Rescue, “Monviso”, based in Castelltelfino, Val Varaida, was alerted to possible interference in support of the helicopter rescue team. This is not necessary as the intervention was completed by the team of the Regional Helicopter Rescue Service. Firefighters are also on high alert.
