This weekend there are some great opportunities for PS4 gamers to try out new and upcoming titles through the PlayStation Store.
New free PS4 experiences are available for download today, though they will never be the same.
Sony keeps its PlayStation Store current with the latest free demos and trials, with plenty planned for September.
Although tons of PlayStation exclusives are not currently available for free, there is some catchy third-party content.
Currently, Gamers Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War Alpha can be downloaded and played at no extra cost.
The current test period was surprisingly announced during the recent PS5 showcase and is set to run only this weekend.
The good news is that there is still plenty of time to jump, as the Cold War Alpha will end on September 20 at 6pm until BST.
And with the game weighing in at 25GB to download, it shouldn’t take long to get into action.
It has been announced that the new BlackApps will only play on the Alpha PS4, which means it will only be available on the Xbox One and PCs.
Gamers should also know that Call of Duty Alpha does not require a PS Plus subscription to enjoy multiplayer.
Other options for free content this weekend include the VR hit title Paper Beast, the Crystal Chronicles Lite and the NBA 2K21 demo.

Modes – 6v6 Multiplayer: Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed (Available September 18-20)
The three maps designed for the Alpha 6v6 play feature three traditional game modes.
Of these three, Call of Duty – the gold standard for squad-based game modes in Team Deathmatch (TDM) – as well as the Kill Confirmed, TDM variant, must ensure that operators kill the enemy dog tags by knocking them down. The enemy team is rejected.
Objective mode is the dominant dominance in the Call of Duty franchise. Expect a larger capture area than previous titles in Black Ops Cold Wars Domination, allowing more cover opportunities and maneuverability when capturing a point while attacking or defending.
Combined Arms Introduction: Domination (Available September 18-20)
Combined Arms: Domination is the new 12v12, a vehicle-inclusive twist on traditional domination, set on larger maps compared to the game’s traditional 6v6 playgrounds.
In Combined Arms, vehicles such as tanks, snowmobiles, walkers and gunboats allow squads to increase their firepower and mobility in these expansive environments. As with the Core 6v6 Domination mode, teams are responsible for capturing and protecting multiple targets between the two starting span areas.
In addition to traditional loadout-based firefights and Scorestrike play, Combined Arms: Domination defines how each team uses available vehicle selection to help their vehicles repel combat.
Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War has set a November 13 release date on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
