To activate Smart Lock, follow these steps – in our example on a Samsung device:
- First set the secure lock mode for your device under “Device Security” in Settings.
- The menu item “Unlock effect” switches to “Secure lock settings”. Tap the dot.
- Select “Smart Lock” and enter your PIN to authenticate the functionality on your mobile phone.
- You are now in the Smart Lock menu. Here you can access the following options:
Reliable devices: You classify one or more devices as “reliable”. If the smartphone is close to these devices, it will open automatically using Smart Lock.
Reliable locations: You choose where the phone will never open.
Reliable voice: You can use your phone voice recognition to determine if you are using it.
Wear recognition: By authenticating certain operating systems, Smart Lock authenticates whether or not you are currently carrying your mobile phone with you. Your phone will open automatically accordingly.
But the smart-lock feature cannot be used only on Samsung devices. Since it is part of Android, you can find it in most device settings – look for “Smart Lock”.
