One Drive in Windows 10: How to use it to back up your files

Microsoft offers its own online file storage service, OnDrive. The application is usually already installed on your computer by default, so you can quickly save all your documents to the cloud and keep them safe.

Microsoft OneDrive lets you backup and share your documents, photos and other files from your Android device, your computer (PC or Mac) and any device you use.

Like all online storage services, OneDrive can sometimes slow down your computer, especially if it is still running and syncing in the background. Here are some tips that are always useful to know and apply, to benefit from it without realizing the setback.

Customize OneDrive Sync

By default, OneDrive syncs all the files on your computer, in the background, from time to time as you use them. These processes can sometimes slow down the system and hinder you from your work.

To control and master how OneDrive works, you can go to Settings and change some settings: for example, Sync may be paused each time you use a limited network connection.

Occasionally, you can pause the sync and restart at the appropriate time.

Use the file function as needed

Using the “Custom Files” feature allows you to get extra from the OneDrive service by selecting which files and folders you place in Explorer’s OneDrive folder.

For example, if you want to access a folder even offline, you can right-click on it and select “Always keep it on this device”.

Disable OneDrive on startup

OneDrive software can help slow down your system as you boot your system. So you can interfere with the settings to prevent its automatic boot when the PC is turned on.

In our tutorial we will explain how to disable one drive and remove any connection with the computer you are using if you want to use another service or storage media.
