Nvidia Shield TV is starting to convert from Android TV to Google TV

Nvidia Shield TV is starting to convert from Android TV to Google TV

Shield TV was announced during the Galaxy S6 era. Since its launch in 2015, Nvidia’s multimedia box has benefited from dozens of updates… and it’s not over yet. In June 2021, its interface will benefit from the complete mask.

Six years after the marketing of the first Shield TV, in March 2015, precisely, Nvidia’s multimedia box benefits from an update to its interface. In fact, Android TV is gradually starting to change Chromecast with Google TV.

New interface to accommodate content

With Google TV, we move away from the philosophy of Android TV to a vision that directly highlights content, across all different applications and their respective universes. We have already seen this kind of approach At Apple, And more specifically With its Fire TV on Amazon. It’s the same idea here.

However, since the “Discovery” tab is not the same as the “For You” tab, keep in mind that the interface is not exactly the same as that of the Chromecast with Google TV. Either way, the philosophy is the same and it will change the habits of Shield TV owners.

As a reminder, Shield TV is a multimedia box that was initially announced in 2015 and then enjoyed two updates in 2017 and 2019. After all, all generations of Shield TVs benefit from software updates, and their technical basis remains the same.

This lifetime is a real achievement and should set Shield TV as an example in the world of new technologies.
