Nsw Digital Driver License downloads reach 2 million

NSW drivers have more than two million reasons to download a digital driver’s license (DDL), which has reached a significant milestone in just one year of launch.

Customer Service Minister Victor Dominello said DDL is safe, secure and can be used in many places and police roadside checks as proof of age and ID.

“Two million people (36 percent of all driving license holders) can’t be wrong. Drivers simply love technology, and 95 percent give a thumbs up,” Mr Dominello said.

“Most state borders are reopened, and many people will visit places during the festive season, so do yourself a favor and contact DDL.

Customers who log in to more than 562,000 locations will be able to use DTL.

In September, NSW Parliament passed a law expanding the use of the digital driver’s license, giving it the same legal status as the plastic driver’s license card. DDL is now accepted by the police in every Australian state and region.

Mr Dominello encouraged customers to download a DDL live to the NSW Government’s Dine & Discover program.

“To download a DDL you need to create a MyServiceNSW account, which requires Dine and Discover. So the sooner you create an account, the sooner you can reap the rewards,” Mr Dominello said.

The new DTL service is securely hosted in the NSW app, then locks with and can be accessed offline. This provides additional protection and security against identity fraud compared to a plastic driver’s license.

To obtain a DDL, licensees must create a MyServiceNSW account www.service.nsw.gov.au Download the service NSW mobile app on their smartphone. The digital license will always be chosen.

Licensees are advised to carry a backup of their plastic card.
