In recent years, the over-rumored-announcement-surprise / disappointment cycle of Nintendo live presentations has become just as important as games for fans; Nintendo gamers are not as excited as a good ol ‘direct tease, this time a whole community is chatting together and learning about our favorite pastime is awesome.
But, as we all know with pain, we have touched the dry part. Like the latest Super Nintendo World Direct – not to mention “mini: Partner Showcase” presentations or videos that focus only on one game or event – it’s been over 500 days since our last “full fat” direct. The event took place on September 4, 2019.
So, will we ever see one of these spectacular scenes? Directs is a thing of the past, or at least, we have certainly seen an increase in comments reflecting the possibility that we will never see it again, a job listing listed by Nintendo in the United States. A blur of hope that they are still in the company’s mind. The new role of the related audiovisual producer includes the following obligation:
“Live action footage can help the film to be used in Nintendo Directs and other content marketing efforts.”
So are you telling us there is a chance?
By the way, when last commenting publicly on its plans for Nintendo Directs, the company’s chairman Shundaro Furukawa said they were “incredibly effective”, but over time Nintendo’s attitude towards providing information to fans may change.
We are sure they will not be here forever, but do not give up hope for the new “appropriate” direct yet – even if you think it may be.
