To mark the end of 2020, Nintendo will release five – yes, five – retro games on its Switch online service this month.
At SNES, Ariya’s third entry Donkey Kong Country Series (1996) joins the library, following it Ignition factor (1994, Jalego), Super Wallis IV (1992, Telenet Japan) and Duff e nuff (1993, also known as another Jalego title Dead Dance In Japan). Before the NES, we got it Nightshade (1992, Beam Software).
Below is the full solution for each game, courtesy of the official Nintendo press release:
Super NES
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Problem! – Donkey and DT Kong are missing. While checking in with the rest of the Dixie Kong family, she gets stuck in babysitting duties! But that doesn’t stop her from going on her next adventure. Play Dixie Kong or Kitty Kong solo against a friend or with a friend. Use their skills when interacting with each other in more than 40 levels.
Ignition factor – Intense firefighting action immerses you in the heat of the moment. Control a brave firefighter who fights to save people. Keep your cool to recover all those affected. Get them out of the fire and go back to safety!
Super Wallis IV – A red moon calls evil, and the bells come to war. Take on the role of Lena, the only warrior who can use the Wall Sword against evil forces in this action platform. No matter how long it takes you to clear a stage, you will get a strong boss at the end of it. Line up and use the items you collect to travel through all seven levels.
Duff e nuff – Four champions seek to challenge the big tower! In this action game, each time you defeat a certain number of enemies, your special attacks will make your hero grow more powerful. Make good use of your defenses and carefully set aside your special attacks against all the difficult people you encounter on the way to the self-proclaimed fighting king Jade. With the instant-re-feature, you can have fun watching the last moments of the fight!
NES
Nightshade – Sudek has blanketed the metro city under crime and corruption. The big crime bosses are only responding to him now. To avenge his fallen idol, Mark Gray is the last person in the guise of a nightshade to stand between Swede and total control of the metro city. Take to the streets of the metro city in search of revenge, using a combination of point-and-click and action game styles.
Each of these titles will be released on December 18th. Will you reconsider when Dong Kong Country 3 or any other topics come up later this month? Leave a comment below.
