In an episode of his podcast Talking game with Reggie & Harold, Recorded earlier this year, by former Nintendo boss Reggie Fills-Aime revealed that he had already “politely refused” to work with rapper Kanye West on the video game project.
According to the site Nintendo is everything, West, who shared a clip from the show last Saturday, is said to have first visited Nintendo’s booth during an E3 version “many years ago”. After crossing the tracks with someone other than Shigeru Miyamoto, the singer would have asked to meet Reggie Phils-Aime, a meeting that would have finally taken place in the Western offices shortly after.
It was at this point that the star reportedly shared with a former Nintendo boss that he was “testing video game content” and “wanted to work” with the popular Japanese company.
“We’ve had a variety of projects at Nintendo so there’s no chance of anything being done with Kanye. So I had to find a way to politely decline this opportunity to work with him,” Phils-Aimee said.
“I said to him, ‘Kanye, you don’t want to work with us because we’re hard, we’ve hard. All we do is stimulate great content. We will not be the partner type. Who do you want to work with.’ He looked at me and said, “Reggie, you’s the partner I want for this reason.” I was like, ‘God,’.
