The company is asking its suppliers to build 90 million next-generation iPhones this year, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday.
The technical team from Cupertino, California, has been maintaining a constant volume of about 75 million units since its inception over the past few years until the end of the year. The enhanced forecast for 2021 indicates that the iPhone manufacturer is expecting additional demand when the new iPhone is introduced due to progressive vaccines against COVID-19.
The upcoming iPhone generation should be Apple’s second with 5G technology – an important incentive to encourage users to improve. This year’s update will offer more than the iPhone 12, focusing on processor, camera and display improvements, said from circles. All current models need to be updated. The new smartphones are expected to be announced in September this year. In 2020, Apple did not introduce new models until October due to problems with the supply chain.
Shares of Apple were quoted 2.41 percent higher at $ 149.15 on the Nasdaq.
