Microsoft’s lo look is generally considered to be the most popular email application on Windows, but at the same time, Thunderbird is becoming more popular not only on Linux and Mac, but also on Microsoft’s own operating system.

Although the adoption of LoTluc has been on the rise recently, the company is following the Office 365 suite, especially among employees and those who benefit from the remote working trend. Thunder It continues to be a super-popular choice and it happens for good reason

Not only does it pack a super-advanced feature lineup, Thunderbird also has a clean and intuitive interface that can be further customized to suit your preferences.

Currently, Thunderbird operates on the following platforms:

    • Windows: Windows 7 or later
    • Mac: macOS 10.9 or later
    • Linux: GTK + 3.14 or higher

As you already know, Windows 7 is already disabled and only receives updates for companies as part of the ESU program released by Microsoft. So while Thunderbird still supports the platform it is still good news to switch to a newer version of the operating system, but at some point in the future, Mozilla will also reduce Windows 7 compatibility. No information has been shared in this regard.

The new version of Thunderbird is available for download today, and although it does not focus on new features, it does come with valuable changes that can be highlighted.

First, Thunderbird introduces a new update for the 78.3.2 update system, so starting with this version, the application will not automatically install updates if the Preferences tab is enabled. This helps prevent users from closing the app when they set up the app.

As expected, there are new improvements to the implementation of OpenPGP, which will be explained in the official changelog of the Mozilla application:

OpenPGP: Better support for encryption with subtitles

In the case of Windows users, there are two significant improvements.

First of all, this update introduces Dark Mode, High Contrast and Windows Theming solutions, so overall, Thunderbird should be more seamless with your visual settings on Windows computer.

And then, the Thunderbird update makes Windows Installer unreadable with Windows High Contrast mode and this build fixes the whole thing, rendering everything exactly as it should.

As Mozilla says the message list is not focused on the startup, the update only brings with it a known issue, however, this is not something that will significantly affect the functionality of the app.

Needless to say this update is a revision to the Thunderbird 78 and all the changes that Mozilla has included in this build are also available.

Although there are plenty of improvements in the Thunderbird 78, one of my favorites about this version of the email client in Windows is that it finally comes with support to lower the app to the tray, making this feature very easy to find out when the app is running and quickly accessing its features.

“In Windows, you can now run Thunderbird in the background without taking up space in your taskbar. When you enable this new option, when you minimize your Thunderbird window, it is reduced to a small icon in the system tray (the small area next to your system clock in the lower-right corner of your screen). Clicking on the Thunderbird’s tray icon will return it, ”explains Mozilla.

A complete list of new features available in the Thunderbird 78 is available on all supported platforms Here.
