Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo have teamed up on a rare occasion to collaborate on a new security policy aimed at protecting players during online gaming experiences.
Under the new framework, the three gaming giants will prioritize various security features under three key categories: prevention, partnership and liability. On the blocking front, they hope to provide additional information to parents and players so they can pick up better information. The partnership focuses on working with regulators, lawmakers and other companies in the gaming industry to develop comprehensive security measures for players. Finally, accountability will encourage greater effort from all three organizations, which will make access to reporting practices for misconduct easier and ensure that social rules and guidelines are clear and transparent.
A statement from Sony said, “At PlayStation, we have partnered with both the Nintendo and Xbox on behalf of the Nintendo Switch Players’ community, in our belief that protecting players online requires a multifaceted approach – one that combines advanced technology, a support community and efficient benefits over human oversight.” “We can still achieve when we work towards the same goal, so we will continue to invest, evolve and multiply in our approaches to user protection. As we continue this work, we will prioritize the protection of our players, especially the most vulnerable.”
