iQOO flagship devices have finally received the GPU driver update. According to a report, users in China have downloaded GPU drivers via the official App Store.
Report by ITHome Says iQOO 3 and iQOO 5 now support GPU driver updates via their respective App Store. With this, the company follows Xiaomi and OPPO. The report quotes iQOO Product Manager Gee Lon V as saying that updates are only supported from Snapdragon 865/865 + and 765/765G. And not 855 since 2018.
This is especially true when Qualcomm announced this feature when it introduced the Snapdragon 865 flagship SoC. It follows a process similar to Google’s Project Mainline, where users can update their GPU drivers via the official App Store. Previously, GPU drives were attached to computer files that were routed through carriers.

However, you can now download and update the GPU drivers separately. It enables games to quickly adapt to the latest driver features, thereby improving performance and stability. As you can see in the screenshot below, the version is currently viewed by Chinese users. So, we have to wait and see if it comes in other areas as well.
Simply put, upgradeable GPU drivers will open up new worlds where users can quickly access OpenGL or Vulcan API features. Besides Qualcomm, ARM is another company that has announced support for GRU drivers.
Since Qualcomm announced this feature, Xiaomi was the first company to bring this feature to the Adreno 650 GPU in the Mi10, Mi10 Pro, Redmi K30 Pro and many more. Following this, OPPO brought it to devices such as the Find X2 and Find X2 Pro.
