Apple has further opened iOS for developers and users in recent years. With the purchase of the workflow app, a special development team was brought aboard. A few weeks after the acquisition, the “Siri Kurspebel” app was launched on the App Store, now only known as “Kurspebel” and is an integral part of the iOS 13 operating system. In addition, individual automations were introduced that could be carried out depending on system functions such as day, location, or current battery charge.
Apple’s new MacSafe interface, introduced in the iPhone 12 model series, is similarly innovative. This allows chargers, cases and even small bags to be magnetically attached to the iPhone. It is very convenient and will definitely provide some interesting applications in the future.
A small feature in MagSafe is unused
During the presentation of the new Maxoff functionality, Apple pointed out that the interface not only works very efficiently on wireless charging, but can also identify jewelry using a small chip. You can see this when you attach the MagSafe charger or Apple leather wallet. Depending on the device, different animations will appear on the iPhone display. However, it is a shame that more accurate information cannot be read. With the use of shortcuts, it has a lot of capabilities.
Device Detection 2.0
How do we say that? Now. In the shortcuts app you can create individual automations in a few simple steps. It also includes a processor-enabled charger and a link to NFC tags. If Apple enables detection for the app, your iPhone will start automation only, for example, if it detects a charger in the bedroom. If you put it there, “Do Not Disturb” can be activated, blindfolded, lights turned off and doors and gates closed.
There are plenty of other uses as well. If the leather wallet does not connect to the iPhone for more than 30 seconds outside your home, a music or alarm sound will be played to let you know this fact. Alternatively, a green case with MagSafe may turn the background into a green theme, while an orange case provides an orange background.
Basically, here are some examples of how Apple MacSafe components can be integrated with the shortcuts app to allow for new automations. What do you think about the idea? Let us know in the comments.
