Installing Flash Payer on your computer involves a great deal of risk

Are you trying to use a site or service that says you need Flash on your Mac, or if you see a message saying “Adobe Flash Player blocked”, what do you do?

In this article, we will explain why you need to be careful when downloading Flash on your Apple PC. To avoid such an application, we offer you other alternatives.

Why is it not recommended to install Flash Player?

Adobe discontinued support for Flash Player on December 31, 2020 and has prevented Flash content from running on Flash Player from January 12, 2021.

Adobe goes so far as to recommend that all its users uninstall it immediately to protect their computers.

So, if you have a site or application that indicates that Flash Player is required for it to work, you are more likely to be exposed to the virus. So, do not click any link to download this software.

The company says that the reason it stopped supporting Flash was because of open standards, including HTML5, WebGL and WebAssembly, and the arrival of all possible alternative standards for Flash.

However, the other reason may be the large number of fake Flash Player downloads, which is one of the most common ways to embed malicious code on a Mac.

Over the years, it has become vulnerable to online threats. When Apple released Safari 14 in September 2020, it had already stopped loading Flash Player and playing Flash content. Later, many web browsers such as Chrome, Edge and Explorer quickly followed suit.

Is Flash Player Safe to Use?

The answer is clear: no.

There will be no security updates as Adobe has stopped developing Flash Player. So you can be sure that installing this on your Mac is a bad idea and can expose you to security risks.

If you already have one, we advise you to uninstall it.

Switch to Adobe Flash Player

If your reason for needing Flash Player is playing old Flash games, why not visit the web archive? This service protects some Flash-based games and animations, and you can still enjoy them as they are followed. Here is a collection of prototypes that can be found in the web archive:

Ruffle

Ruffle is a Flash Player emulator that works as a standalone utility. It can be used on both iOS and Mac to view Flash content.

If you want to run it on Safari, you need to change the extension to be compatible with Xcode 12+, the developers explain how to do it on their site.

Flash point

Bloomexima describes Flashpoint as a web game protection program. In Flashpoint Secure Player, according to Blumexima, you can run web-based media “without any permanent changes or security holes in your computer”.

Note that Mac support is described as “experimental”.

Flash Player 2022

Flash Player 2022 from ModernKit.one is a prototype that allows you to run Flash Player content. This is a Firefox extension.
