    India, Brazil lead app downloads during Q3 2020

    The Kovid-19 pandemic with India has hit a record number of smartphone users worldwide and Brazil is a leader in Android-powered devices. Google Play is led by both countries, while the US and China lead the rest of the Apple ecosystem.

    New Report From all over the app that users have downloaded 33 billion apps worldwide while spending billions 28 billion worldwide. This represents a 20% spike per year, with growth of 25% as consumers spend more than 180 billion ensemble hours each month, according to the total time spent in the July-September period.

    Google Play downloads grew by 10% year-over-year during this period, accounting for 25 billion of the total 33 billion, with iOS taking over the rest of the market. With this growth, more than 55% of downloads are non-gaming, compared to 70% in the case of iPhone apps.

    India leads the Android ecosystem with the highest number of downloads, followed by Brazil, the US and China in the top two on iOS. However, India and South Korea have also shown the biggest growth on the Apple platform, which indicates what we already know – Apple is gaining popularity around these parts.

    The games, tools and entertainment segment on iStore led downloads on the Google Play platform, with games, videos and entertainment top categories for five consecutive quarters.

    In terms of costs, on Google Play, 20% of annual growth in iOS is at $ 18 billion, with 35% reaching $ 10 billion a year. Of these figures, non-gaming apps accounted for 35% of iOS and 20% of Google, mostly driven by subscriptions. The United States and Japan are the top markets for these costs on iOS and South Korea on Google Play.

    The survey suggests that Facebook dominated the top four following WhatsApp, FB Messenger and Instagram. Next on the list are Amazon, followed by Twitter, Netflix and Spotify.
