“I still can not believe”: 40 goals – Robert Lewandowski Gert M ஜெller’s record – Sport

F.C. Robert Lewandowski, a world footballer from Bayern Munich, has scored 40 goals in one season for Gerd Mல்லller. The 32-year-old Pole scored his 40th goal with a penalty kick in the 26th minute of the German Football Champions’ game at SC Freiburg on Saturday, ending Muller’s record for the 1971/72 season. For decades this was considered unattainable.

After his goal, Lewandowski presented M சller with a shirt in his honor under his jersey. Bayer’s players and coaching staff applauded him for standing in front of a replacement bench instead of a bench.

For Lewandowski, this was another milestone in his career. He is already a five-time top scorer in the Bundesliga: in 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2020. His season record to date is 34 goals.

The successful record hunt should also be particularly valued as the world-class attacker missed four Bundesliga games at the end of March after a knee injury. Lewandowski is also far behind in Bayer’s Champions League defeat against Paris Saint-Germain. In the 2-1 defeat to Munich in Mainz, he returned to the field three weeks ago and scored his 36th goal of the season.

Now with 276 Bundesliga goals, he is second on the all-time goalscorer list, behind former Bayern striker Mல்லller (365 goals). Lewandowski could also hit this record in the years to come. His current contract in Munich runs until June 30, 2023.

“I’m so proud, I still can not believe it. I need a little more time. The record belongs to the whole team. The list includes not only my name, but the name of the whole team,” said Lewandowski. Bavaria CEO Carl-Heinz Romanike said: , I know he will give Robert wholeheartedly this day. Both are standout strikers in football history. ” (dpa)
