Former German national basketball player Shaun Bradley was seriously injured in a bicycle accident in the United States a few weeks ago. The Dallas Mavericks, who played Bradley from 1997 to 2005, suffered a traumatic spinal injury at the age of 48, according to a news release Wednesday evening.
“Sad news for the evening: Shawn, we think of you, we wish you the best possible recovery and you and your family’s strength,” the German basketball club tweeted.

The 2.29-meter-tall Bradley also played with superstar Dirk Nowitsky, according to the Mavericks. After an operation, he spent the last eight weeks in the hospital, where he began rehab. Doctors told him it would be a long and arduous journey, the report said.
Bradley is in a good mood. He plans to raise public awareness about the safety of cyclists in road traffic after an accident. Bradley did not want to make further public statements.
News of the serious injury also hit Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. “We only want the best for him to recover,” he said.
Bradley joined the North American Professional League NBA in 1993. He initially played for the Philadelphia 76ers in 1995 in the Jersey Nets and two years later in Dallas. (dpa)
