The video surveillance system was able to identify and report the person whose vehicle was impounded. There are already 100 cameras active in the city
Messina – Mesm @ rt project begins to bear fruit a week after being used in the city. The project has already identified a citizen’s intent to dump waste in the seizure-prone area, thanks to new cameras installed in some strategic points of the city and artificial intelligence and machine learning methods. The person was identified with the help of pictures and informed, while the vehicle was confiscated. “I’ll catch you one by one,” Mayor Cadeno de Luca cries.

The Mesm @ rt project will operate in the area to monitor real video surveillance services for landslides, the environment, noise, electromagnetic and air pollution, water supply circulation and urban security. The first 100 cameras were purchased and installed: 35 Avigilon and 65 Higvision, which transmit data via optical fiber, instead use 4G technology in some parts of the city without fiber. A further 600 cameras will be purchased thanks to the Messina-linked city plan, while a loan of $ 10 million has already been requested by the Messina municipality to the Ministry of the Interior to upgrade the technical equipment.
