Dacia Media Control is to replace the integrated multimedia screen in the vehicle in the future. The manufacturer has chosen the smartphone as an alternative. “Media Control, jointly designed by our engineers and designers, is our favorite screen Customers – on their smartphones – at the center of their vehicle’s multimedia system ”, Explains Nicola Lecross, director of Tasia’s functional cross car tax.

Media Control is a complete multimedia system including radio and USB and Bluetooth interfaces, but with a fold-out smartphone holder on top of the dashboard. “Since this docking station was fixed from the beginning of the design process, we were able to integrate it perfectly – thus guaranteeing the best ergonomics and maximum use.”, Hence Lecross.

How does Dacia Media Control work?

After installing the smartphone in the holder and downloading the Dacia Media Control app, the phone is connected via Bluetooth, thus becoming an integral part of the multimedia and infotainment system. Navigation, radio, phone, your own music collection and selected vehicle info – all of these can be controlled by using the familiar touch gestures in the display, using the buttons on the multifunction steering wheel or using the smartphone’s voice control.

There are plenty of navigation providers and programs to choose from. Access to radio stations, streaming services and your own music collection – on a smartphone, USB stick or MP3 player – is possible. In addition to making and receiving calls, phone functions include voice search for contacts, calling call history and searching for appointments on the calendar. Although this functionality is currently only available for Android users, the system can also read short messages. This should be followed soon for iOS.
